For a while I’ve been dying to test out some delta 8 products.
Delta-8 has been touted as the next big thing in cannabis for some time now – it’s effects are said to be similar to THC, but milder and without the unwanted side-effects such as anxiety and paranoia.
It is thought that there are growing number of people who would like to experiment with cannabis but are discouraged by the strong effects of THC. Many cannabis enthusiasts hope that delta-8 will allow a new wave of users to experience the positive effects of THC without experiencing unpleasant side effects.
Being relatively new, it’s hard to find high-quality delta-8 products on the market. However, after asking around, one shop kept getting recommended to me – Budmother.
Two products in particular caught my eye – the Delta-8 Pineapple Express moon rock and also their hash. I decided to sample a gram of each in order to test out their effects.
First impressions
Both the moon rock and hash arrived promptly without issue. Both came in their own individual pouches with Budmother’s slick branding on the side.

The general appearance of the hash looks amazing. Upon closer inspection I’m surprised by its strong smell, a good indicator of high quality hash.
I then move onto the Moon rock. Having little experience with moon rock I decide to do some research: Moon Rocks are prime quality buds, which are then sprayed or dipped in hash oil, live resin or rosin. They are then finished off by rolling the bud in keif.
When I break open the moon rock, I’m taken back by the appearance. I can see the multiple layers of concentrate – it looks amazing and I can’t wait to try!
Quality
Having tried products from Budmother before, I’m well aware of the pride they take in providing high quality products, and their delta-8 range is no different. According to their website, the range is sourced using high-quality hemp from farmers from Italy, Germany and Austria.
The hash is created using methods taken from the production of original Afghan Hash in Afghanistan. All of the delta-8 range are produced using twice filtered pollen, delta-8 distillate and genuine terpenes.
Effects
I sampled the moon rock first. I sprinkled a generous amount into my joint alongside some CBD hemp. To my surprise, after 20 minutes or so I was actually pretty high. However, this wasn’t like a regular THC high – the effects were more subtle. I was able to function a lot easier. I just felt relaxed and happy. It was the perfect smoke for going about my day and not feeling too stoned.

The hash produced a similar high but the effects to me felt weaker. I felt more of a body high with the hash. My body felt relaxed and my mind at ease. It would be ideal after a gym session or a long, active day.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the effects of Budmother’s delta 8 products. I can understand why many are starting to swap their THC for delta 8 strains.
Uses
The most obvious use for the delta 8 products is in a joint. Mixing either product into a CBD joint will provide a subtle high, without the effects being too strong.
Through mixing the delta 8 hash into my joint, I felt relaxed, happy but at the same time clear-headed. I was able to comfortably socialise, work and go about my day without feeling the anxiety that I sometimes experience with THC.
Another option is vaping. Not only is vaping healthier for you, it’s also cost-efficient and lasts longer. I tried vaping the moon rock straight without any CBD bud and the effects were more intense in comparison to smoking. However I still didn’t notice any paranoia or anxiety that I occasionally feel with THC.
Creating edibles is also an option. Although I haven’t personally tried delta 8 edibles, I’ve heard glowing reviews from those who have. As with any edible, the trick is to start small and work up to larger doses – also remember the effects of edibles can take up to an hour to kick in.

Price
Budmother’s delta-8 moon rock costs around £30 for 1.5g, whereas the hash costs around £24 for 1.5g. In my opinion, they both offer amazing value for money when you consider what you’re getting.
Delta-8 is hard to come by in the UK, and high quality delta-8 is almost impossible to find in the UK. With Budmother’s delta 8 products you get all the effects of a THC strain without the overpowering intensity that can result in negative side effects.
Overall
I’ve been hearing so much about delta-8 I wasn’t sure if it would live up to its hype – however Budmother has won me over. I’m now a huge fan of delta-8.
Delta-8 leaves me with a mild, relaxing high whilst also providing many of the same health benefits as both THC and CBD products.
In the future, I’ll definitely be looking to replace some of my regular weed with Budmother’s delta-8 products.
Really interested to read your comments on Delta 8. I’ve been toying with buying some but have been put off by the low THC level. I’ve always wanted to source some hash that resembles what was on offer in the 90’s. Trying to find a mellow smoke in this day and age is really hard as I find the weed you get today way too strong and trying to find that balance with all the CBD options is really difficult. Will definitely be trying some Delta 8. Thanks for the article!
I’ve tried ordering from budmother and none of the deliveries ever arrive it’s clearly not that good of a company which is a shame as from extensively reading reviews on various sites before buying I really had my hopes up.
