While the UK continues to criminalise recreational cannabis consumers, in some parts of the world, entrepreneurs are forging ahead and bringing a new level of design and creativity to the recreational market.
With that in mind, here are three of the coolest recreational cannabis dispensaries in the world.
1. Rebelle, Massachusetts, US
Described by its creators as an Apple store crossed with a luxury spa retail shop, this stylish dispensary is located in a renovated, 100-year-old farmhouse on half an acre of lush land.
Along with the usual range of flower, extracts, pre-rolls, vapes and edibles, there is a terpene experience table where you can smell the product before purchasing, as well as a yurt out back where you can chill out and sample Rebelle’s high-end cannabis products.
The company has plans to open similarly swanky retail locations in New York following the state’s recent legalisation of recreational cannabis.
2. Alchemy, Toronto, Canada
Alchemy Canna Co. is a boutique cannabis store with a clean, futuristic look. Designed by the acclaimed Studio Paolo Ferrari, Alchemy has earned plaudits for advancing the dispensary experience.
Described as “somewhere between a laboratory and temple”, unique touches include mirrored ceilings, a small landscaped garden, and custom-made sniff jars connected to digital display screens.
3. Kaya Herb House, Kingston, Jamaica
There are three Kaya Herb House cannabis dispensaries in Jamaica, with this Kingston location the most recent to open. It has a very laid-back vibe, with a welcoming on-site smoking room, hammocks, and a stylish cafe that offers local coffee, mouth-watering pizzas and healthy juices.
Although recreational cannabis has not yet been legalised in Jamaica, it is decriminalised and possession of up to 2 ounces is permitted. And prescriptions are pretty easy to come by – you can even get one on-site at Kaya.
