The renowned actor and recent Golden Globe winner Brian Cox (not the pop-star-turned-physicist) has recommended that everyone “get stoned” because it’s “absolutely great” and “even makes politics easier to bear.”
Speaking to a reporter at the Guardian, Cox affirmed his love for weed, saying it’s a “way of dealing with idiocy.”
When asked if he has always been a stoner, he explains how he had not started smoking until he was 50.
“I was very against it, actually,” he said.
“You know, I got married at 21 to an upper-middle-class English girl – well, with Scots parentage, but you know English Scots are the most English! Hahaha!
”Then when I was 50, I realised I missed out on what was going on with young people because I was so square, and I was working so hard, I needed something to relax. So I discovered the wonderful world of cannabis.”
Cox was named best actor in a TV series at the Golden Globes for his role on HBO’s Succession. He played Logan Roy, a pissed-off oligarch and head of a feuding family.
He has also starred in major Hollywood films including Manhunter, Troy and the Bourne Identity.
When asked about his thoughts on cannabis, Cox said the following:
“It’s absolutely great and I recommend it to everyone – get stoned! It does make the politics easier to bear. It’s a way of dealing with idiocy.”
